  • African Women in Cinema Project   Peer Reviewed
    This website provides research and resource guides for the study of African women filmmakers. It includes a filmography and bibliography, as well as a teaching and learning guide to the study of African women in cinema.
  • American Jewish Committee Archives  
    This online collection features extensive audiovisual content from the American Jewish Committee's anti-prejudice campaigns in the post-World War II era. Here users will find, in addition to the films themselves, plentiful primary documentation produced by the AJC's television department about the production of these cartoons and live-action short subjects. Also includes the audio content of AJC-related radio programs from 1939 to 1955.
  • BFI Features: Black Cinema  
    The British Film Institute's hub for all BFI projects related to black cinema. The site includes teaching and study guides, lists of BFI-published books and DVDs, and links to articles on black cinema. Also included are the results of the 2007 UK poll on "The 100 Black Screen Icons." The BFI also publishes "Nu-Visions," a resource site for young filmmakers, which is aimed at a multicultural UK audience.

    Browse films available in the physical collection (in Bloomington, Indiana) by director or title. Video transfers can be purchased for nonprofit purposes. A few clips from the center's public-domain holdings are available on the site, in Quicktime format.
  • Black Film Research Online  
    A database of online resources pertaining to the study of black cinema. Users can search for collections contained in archives, public libraries, and university libraries, as well as for more specific online content on black cinema festivals and retrospectives and online scholarly resources.
  • Blaxploitation Database  
    This database, created by fans, lists hundreds of blaxploitation films and soundtracks. This exhaustive list includes short synopses and information about DVD availability.
  • Blues, Black Vaudeville, and the Silver Screen  
    An online exhibit, rich in primary sources, exploring the amusements available to the African American population of Macon, Georgia, from 1912 to the 1930s.
  • California Newsreel  
    California Newsreel is the leading supplier of social justice documentaries with an emphasis on works that advance "racial justice and diversity, and the study of African American life and history as well as African culture and politics." In addition to the films that it sells and rents, this website also features a number of articles about the history of California Newsreel and the films it distributes.

  • Entertaining America: Jews, Movies, and Broadcasting  
    An online exhibit documenting the relationship of Jews to film and television, including information on Jewish actors, directors, writers, businessmen, studio tycoons, and more. The exhibit covers specific works (Seinfeld, Your Show of Shows) and events (McCarthyism, the Holocaust) spanning from the invention of cinema to today.
  • Joan Sourasky-Constantiner Holocaust Multimedia Research Center  
    Searchable archive of multimedia materials related to the Holocaust, including Nazi propaganda materials. Soon to include a full, digitized collection, but for now users can only search the holdings of the physical collection. In English and Hebrew.
  • Latin America Cinema Guide  
    An extensive guide to online sources for the study of Latin American cinema, including pages devoted to specific directors and performers and links to film archives and cinematheques in Latin American countries.
  • Midnight Ramble  
    A tribute page by film fan Michael Mills about African American cinema in the silent era and the golden age of Hollywood. The site features a filmography. For each film, the author includes a high-quality still and poster image.

    An online exhibit examining Jews' involvement in the arts, including film.
  • Movies, Race, and Ethnicity: African Americans  
    A filmography from the UC Berkeley library of African American cinema and other movies of interest to those studying the representation of race in American media.
  • National Center for Jewish Film  
    Directory of Jewish films from the U.S., Israel, and abroad, including restorations of classic Yiddish-language films. The directory entries include a short summary and distribution information. Users can also search the collection catalog, which lists the holdings of the collection at Brandeis University.
