    An English-language official website, prepared in collaboration with the filmmaker, which includes quotations, biographical information, and a filmography. There is a long bibliography, but most of the articles are in Polish.
  • Austrian Independent Film and Video Database  
    A vast database of independent and avant-garde Austrian films. Search or browse by title or filmmaker. For each film there is a synopsis, cast and crew lists, a still image, and information on exhibition and distribution. Also includes detailed director biographies and filmographies. In English and German.
  • Bangladesh Film Archive  
    A filmography of the most important Bangladeshi films. No synopses or other information available.
  • Bulgarian National Film Archive  
    The official site of the Bulgarian National Film Archive, which features information on the archive's collection and a vast gallery of stills from notable Bulgarian films. In English and Bulgarian.
  • Cahiers du Cinema  
    The main page of the website for the influential French film magazine cofounded by André Bazin is available in multiple languages. Back issues can be ordered and are indexed and searchable in the archive (only available in French) by issue number, date, title, author, interviewer, film, director, or production year.

    The Canadian Journal of Film Studies / Revue Canadienne d’études cinématographiques is an academic peer-reviewed film journal that is published bi-annually. It launched in 1990, and the complete archive is available online for PDF download.
  • Carl Theodor Dreyer  
    This website devoted to the Danish director features an extensive print bibliography, as well as scanned copies of original programs and other primary source material in Danish.     A comprehensive bibliography of books and articles on the cinemas and media of China by the Modern Chinese Literature and Culture Resources Center. Most of these resources are in English, although some are in Chinese.
  • Chinese Taipei Film Archive  
    The bilingual website for the Chinese Taipei Film Archive primarily provides information on its film and paper collections. The website also provides information on film festivals in Taipei and Taiwan.
  • Chris Marker Text  
    Transcriptions of the narration in a few of Chris Marker's films, including La Jetée and Sans Soleil, along with some hard-to-find works.
  • Cinema in Finland  
    A brief introduction to Finnish cinema, with a great bibliography.
  • Cinetext  
    A bilingual (English and German) Internet forum for film and philosophy maintained by the University of Vienna. The "Cinelinks" section provides links to a number of interesting websites, organized by topics like cognitivism, psychoanalysis, and film noir.
  • DEFA Film Library  
    The DEFA Film Library, at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, is the only film archive outside of Europe specializing in the films of East Germany. The library makes films from East Germany available in the United States either for purchase or rental.
  • Europa Film Treasures  
    Europa Film Treasures is an online film catalogue created by a consortium of European film archives. It offers free access, via streaming, to more than 400 films presented with extensive historical notes in five languages, and categorized by time period, country of origin, and genre.
  • F.W. Murnau Siftung Archive  
    Search the contents of the physical archive in Germany. Only a few entries are available in English--most are in German.
  • Fassbinder Foundation  
    This resource on the director features a searchable filmography, an annotated bibliography of Fassbinder's writings, and a print bibliography that links to Amazon.
  • From Nanook to Oumigmag: Documentary Film in Canada  
    A curated exhibit (by the Cinematheque Quebecois) about Canadian documentary film. Features a timeline of notable events in Canadian documentary filmmaking, biographies of directors, profiles of companies that have produced documentaries, information on common recording equipment and processes, and a guide to the topics Canadian documentaries most often cover. Also features posters and some video clips. In English and French.
  • Histoire du Cinema Marocain  
    A database of important Moroccan national productions, dating back to 1952, including a short synopsis of each film. In French and Arabic, with some English.
  • Hong Kong Film Archive Search  
    Search in English for items that are available in the physical collection, including books, films, and audio recordings. Also see http://www.lcsd.gov.hk/CE/CulturalService/HKFA/english/eindex.html to download Chinese language PDFs of complete Hong Kong filmographies and information on Cantonese operatic films.
  • Ingmar Bergman Face to Face  
    A comprehensive source for information about Bergman's films, theatrical work, and writings, published by the Ingmar Bergman Foundation in Sweden. The site contains a detailed filmography, which features a synopsis, still images, interviews, and writings about each film, as well as a bibliography of Bergman's own writing. In English and Swedish.
