  • Austrian Independent Film and Video Database  
    A vast database of independent and avant-garde Austrian films. Search or browse by title or filmmaker. For each film there is a synopsis, cast and crew lists, a still image, and information on exhibition and distribution. Also includes detailed director biographies and filmographies. In English and German.
  • Bad Lit: The Journal of Underground Film  
    Bad Lit: The Journal of Underground Film covers the world of creative independent filmmaking—avant-garde, experimental, underground and cult film—and features reviews, trailers, film festival lineups, filmmaker interviews, image galleries, short films, and news.
  • Brian Frye on the Web  
    Film critic Fred Camper's list of links to articles about experimental filmmaker Brian Frye, including an extensive list of Frye's own writings on cinema. Many of these articles are from peer-reviewed journals.
  • British Artists' Moving Image Database  
    A research database on British artists' film and video, covering experimental and avant-garde film, video art, artists' television, gallery-based installations, and other works that use moving image and audiovisual multimedia technologies. The database provides information for several thousand works, including dates, formats, and some synopses. It also links to the holdings of public and academic collections, archives, distributors, and dealers, including information about locations and conditions of access.
  • Center for Visual Music  
    The Center for Visual Music is a nonprofit film archive dedicated to visual music, experimental animation, and avant-garde media. Its website offers an online library, an official research page for filmmaker/painter Oskar Fischinger, information about traveling curated film programs and membership, an online store, and galleries.
  • Digital Snow  
    The 2002 DVD-Rom Digital Snow showcases Michael Snow's body of work and has garnered several prizes. The Daniel Langlois Foundation, with permission from Michael Snow and Anarchive, adapted the DVD-Rom for this site. It features texts, drawings, and notes by the artist; texts on the artist; 2-D and 3-D animations and simulations; audio recordings: sound works and improvised music by Michael Snow and the group CCMC; film excerpts; photo reproductions of his work; bibliographies and directories; and a searchable database.
  • Electronic Arts Intermix  
    The catalog of the Electronic Arts Intermix (EAI) includes a synopsis and still for each film or video available in the physical archive in New York City, as well as bibliographies and links for each artist. The site also contains the EAI Archives Online, a work-in-progress that charts the history of the EAI from the late 1960s, and an extensive resource guide for exhibiting, collecting, and preserving media art.

  • Millennium Film Journal  
    Published since 1978 by the Millenium Film Workshop, the Millenium Film Journal focuses on avant-garde cinema and practice, and covers a range of moving image technologies. The journal's website fully indexes past issues by both author and filmmaker. All issues are available for back order, and almost all articles after 1992 are available in full for free.
