I am big fan of the moving image source and of Matt Zoller Seitz articles. His five part series on Michael Mann is one of my all time favorites. I've just watched this first part on Terrence Malick's work. It's terrific. One comment do... The music for The Thin Red Line wasn't composed by James Horner, it was Hans Zimmer!!!

This is the most stupefyingly-normative reading of this film I've ever come across; it's essentially an assault of the low-to-middlebrow values of our idiotic Present against the Art and Intelligence of a rapidly-receding Past. Awful.
